Poor internet services hinder biometric attendance system

Kishtwar, Sept 16: The much hyped biometric attendance system introduced by the government of Jammu and Kashmir has hit rough weather in government offices across the state, particularly in Doda and Kishtwar Districts which witness only few shutdowns as compared to Kashmir valley due to continuous internet blocking.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the biometric attendance system in all most all the District level offices were badly hit and only 10 to 20% attendance has been witnessed in District of Doda and Kishtwar due to ban on Mobile Internet system, beside poor BSNL broadband speed. The officials informed "Early Times" that only selective offices, inside DC Office Complex Kishtwar are enjoying internet facilities due to availability of special internet lease line while majority of the government offices including High/Higher Secondary schools fails to mark biometric attendance due to continuous internet disruption. The officials further informed that all the offices in Kishtwar District had switched to biometric attendance system except office of the Chief Education Officer Kishtwar. They said that the biometric attendance will improved only if government lifts the ban on 3G and 4 G Mobile Internet services which is suspended in Doda and Kishtwar Districts of Jammu Provence since August 5, 2016.
Meanwhile the state government today restored broadband internet services in Doda and Kishtwar Districts after four days giving much relief to some businessman community who are facing lot of problems in online trading and transfer of money. The distributors associated with the business of Direct to Home cable Television services also suffered badly causing chaos and confusion among the hundreds of its subscribers. Many students also showed concern over non filing of online scholarship forms even though the union government extended its date till September ending.
