Sunderbani, Sept 16: Awkward it may sound, but the fact about a three kilometer at Sunderbani is awaiting its macdamisatioin and completion since past 15 years.
One minister among 3 MLAs have taken up their term from various political dispensations at Sunderbani, but for this 3 kilometer stretch touching the highway from Rahya Syaot to Gurha Chatrala via Patrada link road, none showed any concern for this MGNREGA work, except the rural development department that became party to corruption in connivance with the gram sevaks of the region.
The Kuccha road was taken up for macdamisation by the Rural Development Department under the MGNREGA scheme, 15 years ago and only one kilometer stretch has been macdamaised over the years, with nearly Rs 60 lakhs spent on it so far.
This year also Rs 12 lakhs were sanctioned for its complete macdamisation , while Rs 7 lakhs have been spent on the same one kilometer road while remaining Rs 5 lakhs have to be siphoned off by the BLWs , allegedly in connivance with the RDD officials , allege the people of the area.
But for this fact, the astonishing part is that since last fifteen years, the works of macdamisation is annually taken up by the concerned authorities and on the pretext , and money got released, but no further yield has been reported so far.
The people of the area allege that every year, the Rural Development Department officials in connivance with BLWs and gram sevaks reach the venue of one kilometer macdamised road , take inspection and after giving it a refurbishing touch , move back , allegedly gulping down the money released in their favour.
"Same exercise is conducted every year while the remaining 2 kilometers kuccha road remains in the same status and officials move back after conducting the mock exercise," said Anil Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Ravinder Singh and Kamlesh Kumar of Rahya Sayot.
They said that gram Sevaks, BLWs and RDD officials are the main culprits to this exercise which is hanging fire since last fifteen years without any check.
In this regard, when Early Times reported reached RDD commissioner secretary of IAS cadre with the ground situation of the road, he expressed astonishment and disbelief.
"I will personally go into the matter and find out the loopholes in the execution of the work. Anybody from the department or parties conniving with the department would be booked and punished under the court of law," he assured.
The village residents and the people of Sunderbani also alleged that the gram sevaks and BLWs over the period of time have made fortunes through this impious activity and raised palatial bungalows while eating into the national as well state exchequer .
"Every record , bank balance and the property held by the gram sevaks should be scrutinized and revealed to the public as per the source of their income ," said Devender Thakur of Sunderbani who alleged that price of bungalows of gram sevaks are of astronomical costs of Rs 5 crore while all have more than Rs 20 crore as other property which should be scanned and a vigilance probe be initiated against them. |
