Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 16: Even as a shell shocked PDP is silent over resignation of party's founder member Tariq Karra, latter's sudden move has created ripples in the entire political spectrum of Kashmir. The separatist camp is taking it as a triumph for the cause of 'movement', the mainstream politicians of all hues are stunned, resignation move having come as a challenge for almost all Kashmir based politicians.
Sources said even though opposition NC is upbeat over the fact over one of the stalwarts and co founders of PDP having parted ways on an utterly disappointed note while exposing his own party leaders than anyone else, many NC leaders are actually anxious and nervous as Karra's bold move has come as a challenge to them.
Even though the NC stalwarts have all through the period of Kashmir unrest been advocating the protestors and criticizing the government, resignation is the last thing that is on their minds, be that any legislator or a functionary of the party, sources said adding that Karra's resignation from both Parliament as also from the primary membership of the party has come as a challenge for them too.
Sources further said Karra may or may not have scored any political points in the present circumstances in Kashmir but his move has been widely hailed by common Kashmiris who see him someone as real sympathiser of the people in distress across the Valley. Separatists too are upbeat and taking it as their big win, many of them even inviting him to come into fold of resistance camp, though Tariq Karra has not yet opened up his cards as to what would be his next move. Karra having set a precedence in a politically charged atmosphere of Kashmir, the separatist leaders are expecting all other mainstream politicians to follow the suit and joint what they call as people's movement, sources said.
Sources further said though PDP ministers and legislators are tight lipped, only a couple of leaders having reacted or commented over this development, many of them, even stalwarts feel while they were already on a sticky situation facing anger and wrath of protestors, the resignation move has made things more difficult for them, challenge being to keep distance from the party. Other mainstream veterans like Hakim Mohammad Yasin, MY Tarigami too are in a catch -22 situation after this move, sources said even though they are not bound resign from any party but resignation from Assembly as legislators to gain popularity among public is something they are not prepared for at the moment. This dilemma, for most of the Kashmir based mainstream politicans is actually exposing them in the eyes of the common masses, sources added.
