Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 16: The Former Union Minister, Chaman Lal Gupta has termed it as unfortunate the some senior politicians in Kashmir have demonstrated that they are not men of conviction and change colours like the weather under certain pressures. Commenting upon the resignation of Shri Tariq Hameed Karra from PDP, Prof. Gupta said that it was strange that it took over two years to this politician to realize that his party alliance with BJP was unrealistic and wrong. What his erstwhile colleagues in PDP are asserting, cannot be overlooked but for his change of mind and new stances, he added and observed that the sad situation is repeatedly developing in the otherwise charming valley, is but for lack of faith and vacillation to change with the winds by certain politicians. He also recalled that some elderly politicians too, have been succumbing to internal & external pressures. In this regard, Prof. Gupta also targeted the separatist leader, Syeed Ali Shah Geelani and pointed out that after taking oath of the constitution for half a dozen times to be a member of the State Assembly, but now, he is supporting sedition, violence and even terror, which is being denounced world over. Without naming anybody, Prof. Gupta said that there are some others too, who are changing antics to suit their ends. However the constitutional position cannot be changed, one may like it or not, he asserted and maintained that Jammu & Kashmir is an irrevocable part of India, legally and constitutionally.
Gupta also observed that Pakistan has no local standi and its position in this State is only that of an aggressor. This must be understood by all those who much talk about political settlement with stake holders.
