jammu, Sept 17: Two days training programme for a group of 30 farmers of Pargwal Canal Project area was conducted under Soil & Water Management, Command Area Development, at Adaptive Trials cum Training Centre, Chak Jarallan, Jammu. The training programme was inaugurated by Manisha Devi Sharma (KAS) Director, Command Area Development, Jammu. In her inaugural address she emphasized need for maintaining good soil health for better production and quality food. She appealed to the farmers to get their soil samples regularly analyzed and accordingly apply the required dose of fertilizers based on the recommendations as per soil test reports of their soil samples. It will help them to increase their crop productivity and accordingly improve their economic conditions O S Choudhary, Project Officer, S&WM, CAD, Jammu in his welcome address elaborated to the farmers about the two days training programme on soil health under Prime Minister Soil Health Card Scheme. The scientists and resource persons of SKUAST, Jammu and experts from department of Agriculture namely Dr M P Sharma, Dr A.K. Rai, Neeraj Rajwal & Om Singh has awarded to the farmers the importance of soil testing, practical training for drawing soil samples. Role of macro nutrients in production of crops, their deficiency symptoms & their remedial measures, role of micro nutrients in crop production and their deficiency symptoms & their remedial measures, balance dose of fertilizers (time/dose/method of application), improvement/Reclamation of Alkaline/Saline soils, Organic farming for sustainable Agriculture (Application of FYM/Green Manuring) to improving soil structure/health, judicious/safe use of plant protection chemicals with regard to maintenance of soil health. Question and answer interaction session was also held on the concluding day between farmers and scientists, which has successfully been completed. |
