Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 17: When Tariq Hameed Karra resigned the other days from the PDP and from the Lok Sabha, where he was elected from Srinagar in the previous election,he ditched the party at a crucial phase of its brief history.
In his statement he has given vent to his feeling of resentment over the killings of civilians during the last over two months. What is ironical about his confession is that he has blamed the RSS for 'butchering" people. Is he right ? certainly not because the coalition Government of PDP and the BJP does not work under the command and direction of the RSS.
Well Karra was never satisfied with the PDP's decision olf folrging an alliance with the BJP.But he kept mum all these months. He was not satisfied when Mufti Sayeed forged an an alliance with the BJP soon after the election results were out in 2014.
Both father and daughter opted for an alliance with the BJP because they wanted development of the state and by forging an alliance with the BJP,which had come to power in the centre, the late Mufti expected liberal financial help from the centre.
Well the centre has opened the st rings of its purse during the last two years but what one does not feel development projects being implemented is the fault of the state Government which did not submit reports on various projects.Nor the PDP-BJP coalition Government submitted project report on increasing power generation which could have resolve the ongoing energy crisis.
The state Government did not submit any plan for resolving the problem of unemployment. The initiative has come from the centgre which has urged paramilitary forces to reserve some seats for the youth in Jammu and Kashmir during recruitment drive. The Union Home Ministry has sanctioned 10 additional battalitions of police which too could resolve the problem of unemployment.
What then is the reason for Karra's anger ? Yes he is enraged over the fluid security situation which isnot the creation of the coalition Government but that of separatists, militants and Pakistani agencies.Does Karra know it ? Possibly he does not know otherwise he would have thought for days together before quiting the party that he was instrumental in laying its foundation.
Two things could have enraged Karra. First,he was not inducted in the union cabinet. And the fault is not of Modi but Mehbooba did not want the PDP to have alliance with the BJP in the centre too.Secondly,he was enraged over the current situation and he thought it prudent to quit the Lok Sabha and the PDP to strengthen his vote bank which has started witnessingrapid erosion.
Karra says that he did not quit the PDP when Mehbooba was yhet to decide over forging alliance despite his warning to her that PDP would be finished if alliance was hammered out with the BJP and that toio at a time when some PDP MLAs were trying to hobnob with the BJP for forming the Government by sidelining Mehbooba. But B Prime Minister,Narendra Modi, voted for Mehbooba and the state unit of the BJP got the hint and decided to support Mehbooba as Chief Minister..
Quiting the Lok Sabha seat and the PDP Karra has indirectly helped the National Conference.Supp;ose the coalition Government falls it would be the turn of the NC to win the next election. So long live Karra is the slogan of National Convference leaders. Well anger and spleen are the family traits of Karra dynasty and Tariq Hameed Karra has demonstrated it more aptly than his father, uncles or other near one's
The PDP hit out at its MP Tariq Hameed Karra, who resigned from the party as well as the Lok Sabha , saying he was the one who had advocated an alliance with the BJP, besides proposing the name of Mehbooba Mufti as the Chief Minister.
In a statement issued by party general secretary Nazim-ud-din Bhat, the PDP said its alliance with the BJP was not for government formation but to eliminate hostility between different regions of the state and also to remove the trust deficit between people of Kashmir and the rest of the country.
Karra quit the party, protesting against "brutal policies" of the BJP at the Centre and "complete surrender" of the state government before it.
Bhat, a journalist-turned-politician, said it was unfortunate that Karra had chosen to level unfounded allegations despite the fact that "he (Tariq) had strongly advocated alliance with BJP" and recalled that Karra only had proposed the name of Mehbooba as leader of the legislature party and chief ministerial candidate.
When asked to react to PDP general secretary's statement, Karra said, "Nizam-ud-din Bhat is too small a fry to comment on such bigger issues. Let Mehbooba Mufti say what she has said and then I will respond."
