He said most of the lights have either gone defunct or faulty, due to which the traffic problem instead of being resolved got more worst. "The tenders for new traffic lights have been placed and once it gets approved, installation of new lights will begin," he added. "New signal lights will be hi-tech ones having video recording cameras, censors and other gadgets, which will not only help in meeting the traffic snarls but at the same time will identify the violators," he asserted. He, however, said those jumping signals, violating traffic rules, will be identified easily once the lights gets installed and they can be fined accordingly even if they escape from the spot. Most of the signal lights are non-operational in Jammu district, which has added miseries to the commuters due to no control on rising traffic problems.
