Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 17: The crime branch of police has booked two persons for allegedly duping a man of Rs 65 lakh.
Bashir Ahmed, son of Hashim Din of Lane No 7, Rani Talab, Digiana, and Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdul Majid of Bari Brahmna, had duped Narinder Gupta, son of Kishori Lal Gupta of Bathindi, of Rs 65 lakh which they had taken from him as advance against the sale of a piece of land that was not theirs.
When they neither gave him possession of land nor returned him the money, he lodged a written complaint with CB, stating therein that he had in 2013 come in contact with the accused who offered him to buy a piece of 50 kanals of land falling under khasra No 812, 771 and 773 at Smailpur, Bari Brahmna.
After the deal was finalised, they took Rs 65 lakh from Gupta as advance and executed an agreement duly attested before the court. They later obtained fard-e-intikhab of the land, but went underground after that for unknown reasons.
The preliminary verification of CB revealed that the accused had allured the complainant by motivating and showing him very profitable land deal and taken Rs 65 lakh from him by virtue of an agreement. The CB probe revealed that they were history sheeters in records of Bari Brahmana police station and had already duped several people of their money. With this money, they had constructed palatial houses and accumulated other assets, besides providing of luxurious electronic gadgets, including gold ornaments and other costly items, to their wards on the occasion of their marriages. They have been booked under sections 420, 406 and 120-B of RPC.
