Poonch, Sept 25: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohd Harun Malik, the other day, convened a meeting of officers and representatives of various Anjumans Sheians , members of civil society, prominent citizens here and reviewed the arrangements being made for the ensuing Muharram programes in the district. Additional Superintendent of Police Masroor Ahamed Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ashraf Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr. Basharat Hussain, besides other district officers and heads of different religious organisations attended the meeting. The DDC, after threadbare discussion, on the occasion enjoined upon the officers to ensure all arrangements well in advance with regard to uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, provision of essential commodities, besides sanitation, transport and security arrangements. The XEn, PDD, was asked to ensure un-interrupted power supply during the Muharram days whereas EO, Municipal Council, was directed to ensure better sanitation and cleanliness around the Imam Baras and those places where processions are expected so that the mourners do not face any inconvenience. He directed the CA&PD department to ensure availability of essential commodities. The meeting was informed that nearly 32 anjumans are in the district and the programs and majilis of muharram starts on crescent of moon and final processions will taken out on 9th & 10th of Muharram on the day 12 October. The meeting further informed that Ashooras procession will be taken out on already identified roots in Poonch, Mandi and Surankote. Mean time the Deputy Commissioner also granted permission for carrying out procession programs in the district . Keeping in view the present prevailing conditions, the meeting decided to have additional security arrangements on all roots where ASHOORA procession have been taken out so that no untoward incident could take place . The deputy commissioner passed instruction to concerned SDMs and tehsildars for separate meeting at sub divisions and tehsils and ensure participation of civil society members and different religious sects and sort out all kind issues, if there are any. Prominent citizens and representatives of all the religious organizations spoke and assured full cooperation in making the Muharram processions peaceful. |
