| Bypassing Guv, JU issues selection list for top posts | | |

Jammu, May 18: Once again overruling Governor House's order that prevents acting Vice-Chancellor from taking policy decisions, the Jammu University has issued a list of candidates for various posts.
In January this year, the Governor House as well as the Higher Education Department had asked the JU to postpone selection process/ interview for various positions in the varsity.
But in an attempt to pave way for VC's 'blue eyed' candidates, Special Secretary, Neeraj Sharma, issued a list of ineligible/eligible candidates for the post of Registrar, Director College Development Council and Controller of Examination.
"I am at loss to understand why the VC is in a hurry when the JU has been asked not to go for any policy matter," asked a senior officer. "Something is cooking up. Perhaps the authorities want to accommodate their own candidates", he added.
"The Special Secretary to VC is among the eligible candidates for the post of Director College Development Council," sources told Early Times. They said undue favour 'earned' by the Special Secretary, who is already under scanner, has raised questions.
"Eligibility of Neeraj Sharma is under scanner, and the matter is sub judice. To give him undue favour, the university is not pursuing the case in the court. Otherwise, he has been demoted to his actual post", the sources said.
They said that most of the candidates declared eligible by the screening committee do not fulfil criteria for these posts.
"Most of the officers from non-teaching wing are actually not eligible. For non-teaching, a officer must have 15 years experience as Assistant Registrar including eight years as Deputy Registrar. But in the selection list issued by the university, most of the candidates have (+this + that) experience", the sources said, ridiculing the so-called fast-track recruitment that begun after prevent order issued by the Chancellor and state government. |
