One foreign militant killed in Khanpora Handwara

KUPWARA, July 9: One foreign militant was killed today in an overnight encounter that began yesterday late evening Handwara tehsil of this north Kashmir district.
A top police official in Kupwara said that, the encounter between militants and security forces had erupted yesterday late evening in Khanpora near Neelipora Magam in Handwara thesil
Yesterday afternoon we had got inputs about the presence of militants in the woods of Khanpora Magam, adjacent to Neelipora, after which the whole area was cordoned off, the official told early times.
The official said that, as soon as the search party was zeroing in the area, they were attacked by the militants, after which the gun fight raged between two sides.
Due to darkness, the operation was put on hold and today early morning we resumed it again.
After searching the area, one unidentified militant was killed yesterday in forest area of Khanpora Handwara, and his identification was not immediately ascertained, but by the structure he is foreigner, the army official said.
He said that forces have recovered huge arms and ammunition from the slain foreign militant which including one AK 47 rifle, 4 magazine, 20 rounds and one pough and pitho.
The encounter is over, but we have not suspended the operation, as it is believed that there may be some militants who may have taken shelter in the nearby forest areas, the army official added.
However sources said that there was a group of 3-4 foreign militants who recently infiltrate in which one has been killed while three others managed to escape from the area.
