Notorious burglar held, 22 tolas of golden ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh recovered | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 10 : In view of the recent increase in theft/burglary cases, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Vivek Gupta constituted a special team for cracking the theft cases and acting on the directions Gandhi Nagar police claimed to have cracked a theft case with recovery of 22 tolas golden ornaments along with the arrest of the thief. Police spokesman said that the team after hectic efforts arrested one notorious burglar namely Chandan Kumar of Village Chalwara District Kangra, Himmachal Pradesh from Punjab in a case under FIR No. 19/2018 under sections 454 and 380 of RPC registered at police station Gandhi Nagar Jammu and was put on sustained questioning. "The said burglar confessed his involvement in number of burglary cases of different police station of Jammu City and on his disclosure gold ornaments weighing 22 tolas worth Rs 7 Lacs was recovered", said spokesman adding that the gold ornaments include 6 gold chains, 3 gold necklace, 4 golden rings, 4 pairs gold tops, 1 pair gold jhumka, 2 pairs of payal and 1 gold nath. The questioning of the accused person is going on and possibility of more recoveries at this stage can't be ruled out. The team cracked the burglary case included Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia-SHO Gandhi Nagar, SI Kali Charan- in-charge police post Digiana and SI Sandeep Charak-in-charge police post Nehru Market under the supervision of DySP Rafiq Manhas-SDPO City South and Vinay Kumar- in-charge SP City South. |
