Amid mutiny, Mehbooba to go for party overhaul
Axe to fall on ex-ministers
7/10/2018 10:40:16 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: As the threat of a major mutiny looms large within the People's Democratic Party in J&K, the party president and the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has asked her cadres to go for a major reboot.
As per the sources privy to this development, there are chances that a major filtration process within the ranks would be witnessed within few days and that the posts of the leaders shall also be changed after the thorough deliberations with the workers and the activists who are on ground. They have also been asked by the party leadership to strengthen the ties with the people and make contact with them the prime objective.
"There are leaders who have been tasked to identify the black sheep within the party and isolate them at an earliest. There are chances that the party may disqualify them or terminate their posts in the coming time. At present, there are only confabulations going on and discussions over to isolate the rebels is gaining momentum," says a party functionary, adding that the PDP will intensify its activities in the coming time and will also establish contact with the workers on ground.
It was informed further that the ground level activists are much annoyed and disgruntled with few PDP leaders who have ignored and undermined their pleas when they were enjoying high positions as the party was the part of the coalition government. "Yes, there are complaints mounting with each passing day. The workers have now begun to spill beans and are narrating how they were maltreated when they knocked the doors of some PDP ministers in the state. This is the grave reality and it is high time that we rectify our errors before it is too late," says a PDP worker, adding that as soon as the party resumes its activities, the first thing it is expected to do is to show door to the black sheep and those who have made a large chunk of the workers and activists annoyed and disgruntled.
"Mufti Sayeed used to say that the PDP is only because of its workers and activists and when the party formed the government, there were few ministers who completed forgot the workers and never used to meet them. More than those who have rebelled against the party, the danger lurks due to these leaders who have annoyed the workers," sources within the party said.
It was informed further that the party is all set to make its presence felt on ground and will held detailed meetings with the workers and activists afresh. It will ask its cadres, as per the sources, to visit the areas that used to remain the PDP bastions in the past and rebuild the trust of the people in the party once gain. "It is now a matter of few days that the things will begin to settle down and we will have a comprehensive road map to implement on ground," says a PDP functionary based in South Kashmir.
