BARAMULLA, July 10: A 40-year-old man was injured on Tuesday when he accidentally stepped over a landmine near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri.
According to reportd , Abdul Hamid lone, 45, son of Abdul Rashid Lone a resident of Rachawali village of Nambla was injured critically in the blast near Rustum post-UK near LoC in Uri sector.
Hamid was taken to Sub District Hospital Uri where doctors referred him Srinagar hospital for the specialized treatment, sources told ET.
They said that the device exploded when he stepped over the landmine.
The landmines are laid along the LoC to prevent infiltration of militants from across the border and sometimes these get carried away due to rains, sources added.
However a senior police official said that Hamid Lone R/O Rachwali Nambla was cutting grass for domestic animals when he stepped on the mine.
Meanwhile a pall of gloom descended over the family when the news of death of class 11th reached to his native village Nadihal in Rafiabad area.
Sources said that thousands of mourners attended the funeral prayers of slain class 11th student at Nadihal village.
The slain Ubaid Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone of Nadihal Baramulla a student of class 11th was injured critically in government forces action during clashes on Baramulla_Handwara national highway on 25 June succumbed to his injuries today at SKIMS hospital after battling for life for 15 days.
Ubaid received serious injuries when a cavalcade of BSF's 149 BN was coming from Kupwara to Baramulla fired upon a group of stone-throwing pelting boys near Nadihal, Baramulla, sources informed early times.
A police official earlier said that the BSF personnel fired two rounds to disperse the youth in which Ubaid received a bullet injury in his thigh.
Family members said that Ubaid was just returning home from school and was not part of protesting youth.
