Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 31: The year 2018 that begun with political storm over abduction, gang rape and murder of an eight year nomad girl in Kathua, following suspension of two BJP Ministers', finally come to end as after six months of Governor's rule, the state went under president's last week, due to fall of PDP-BJP Government on 19th of June this year.
Year 2018 witnessed many ups and downs on political sphere, especially when NC, PDP and Congress came together to form a government in the state. However, Governor, Satya Pal Malik preferred to dissolve state assembly that was in suspended animation since June 20, after the imposition of Governor's rule.
State politics apart from nation attracted attention from abroad, when government got divided over Kathua case. Due to countrywide protests against BJP as two of its leaders allegedly came in support of the accused of Kathua case. Choudhdary Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga stepped downed from the Council of Ministers. However, continuing his campaign Lal Singh formed social outfit under the ambit of Dogras, and conducted series of rallies in Hindu dominant areas of Jammu division.
Though the Kathua case is still under trail, in the meantime, the torchbearer and crusader in Kathua case Talib Hussain was detained by Samba Police following complaints of harassment and dowry by his wife, and later another of sexual harassment case was registered against him. Talib suffer another setback, when Indra Jaising refused to continue as counsel for him. A JNU student accused Talib Hussain of sexual harassment. Meanwhile due to difference of opinion between PDP-BJP over many issues, the BJP withdrew its support and the state came under Governor's rules.
The Governor administration conducted Municipal and Panchyat Polls in state despite boycott call from two main parties of state ,National Conference and PDP. A large number of BJP members were elected in valley unopposed, Sajjad Lone Peoples' Conference grabbed Mayer Post in Srinagar Municipal Corporation. In Jammu the BJP crossed majority mark in Corporation elections to grab post of Mayer.
In a very dramatic manner, National Conference and Congress extended its support to PDP to form a Government in state. But instead of entertaining 'Mahaghatvandhan' proposal to form government in state, Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved assembly.
