Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 31: In a fall-out of Sunday's incident in which militants decamped with four rifles from the residence of a former legislator here the Jammu & Kashmir Police ordered for the attachment of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Security Kashmir.
In an order issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh it has been written that SSP Security Kashmir, Maqsood-ul-Zaman has been attached with the security headquarters. Sajad Hussain, SSP Commandant JKAP 3rd Battalion has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of SSP Security Kashmir.
"Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, SSP Security Kashmir is hereby attached with Security Headquarters with immediate effect. Shri Sajad Hussain, SSP Commandant JKAP-3rd BN in addition to his own duties shall look after the work of SSP Security Kashmir till further orders," reads the order issued by DGP Dilbag Singh.
The order has been issued order number GZ/G-03/SP/Trans dated 31-12-2018. A copy of the order has been sent to Principal Secretary, Home Department, Jammu & Kashmir for favour of confirmation. A copy each of the order has also been sent Additional General of Police (ADGP) Security/L&O, SSP Security Kashmir and Commandant JKAP-3rd battalion.
The order for attachment of SSP Security Kashmir has been issued a day after the incident in which four rifles were taken away by militants from the official residence of former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Mohammad Muzaffar Parray at Jawahar Nagar here in the summer capital.
In the meantime four police personnel who were posted at the residence of Muzaffar Parray as personal security officers (PSOs) have been dismissed from the service on account of dereliction of duties and un-authorized absence.
It would be in place to mention here that four rifles of the police personnel posted at the official residence of former MLC went missing after some militants managed to enter the house and decamped with the rifles of the policemen.
Couple of persons managed to enter the J-37 official residence of Parray at Jawahar Nagar and left the residence after some time along with the four rifles of the police personnel posted there for the security of Parray and his family.
The militants after entering the guard room took away the four AK-47 automatic rifles and ran away. Following the incident authorities sounded red alert across the Srinagar district and other parts of Kashmir. Nakas have been set up at different places in order to nab the militants responsible for the incident. At the same time security has been beefed up in the Kashmir valley.
It would be in place to mention here that in September this year an SPO hailing from Zainpora, Shopian, stole seven AK rifles and a pistol from the residence of former PDP legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir in the same area.
