Vehicle skidded off slippery NH44, several injured
1/14/2019 10:45:01 PM
Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Jan 14: As many as nine persons including four women and 3 children of a family were injured when their Patnitop bound Jeep (Scorpio-JK02BA3366) skidded off the slippery NH44 due to the frozen water on it and fell about 50 mt into a gorge near Patnitop today morning. In two other similar mishaps in Patnitop and Batote many person had a narrow escape when their vehicles slipped on the NH44 due to the frozen water on it. As many as eleven persons of a family had a providential escape when their Patnitop bound Jeep (Scorpio-JK21E 0006) slipped and turned on the road near the same spot and narrowly escaped from falling into a gorge.
In another mishap many a passengers received minor injuries when a Jammu bound bus collided head on with a Kishtwar bound TempoTraveller at Chhampa in Batote due to the slipperiness on the NH44 today morning. All LMVs and HMVs were seen moving slowly and cautiously on the road around Patnitop and Batote especially in shadowy areas where the yesterday's snow and water has frozen on the road. Due to this reason many a tourists were seen cutting short their journey to Patnitop and returning from Batote.
They have resented the discontinuance of past routine practice of spraying urea and salt on the road every early morning in such situations to avoid slipperiness caused due to the frozen snow or water especially following a snowfall and after a clearer night.
