Team Jammu launches campaign to revive Dogri language

Jammu, Jan 14: Speeding up its vigorous campaign to revive Dogri culture, tradition, language and festivals among younger generation of Jammuites, Team Jammu organized cultural bonanza of Dogri folk songs at Baba Puran Nagar, near Bhagwati Nagar, here on late Monday evening. The event was organized in collaboration with Baba Puran Nagar Welfare Committee headed Vishu Sharma.
Hundreds of area residents besides Jammuites hailing from adjacent localities along with their children joined the occasion and celebrated the event with great enthusiasm. The folk singers from Ramnagar Tehsil of Udhampur district headed by popular and young folk singer Anita Adarsh and Surjeet Singh enthralled the gathering with their melodious voice.
They sang number of famous Dogri songs including 'Bhala Shipayia Dogreaa', 'Isse Garayein Deya Lambara', 'Nai Kar Goriye Mailiyaan Akhiyaan' 'Lokka Karuu Chuk Goriye', 'Tare Tura Paeiyaan' 'Kanak Mandi Da Tanga Chaleya' that made virtually made youth as well as elderly to dance amidst chanting of slogans 'Dogra Parivaar Zindabaad and Jai Jammu Jio Jammu'. Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the gathering for their keen interest in participating programs pertaining to Dogra folk, culture and language. He also lauded the efforts of Baba Puran Welfare Committee head, Vishu Sharma and his otgher volunteers that made the event a grand success.
