Two drug peddlers held, over 500 gram charas recovered

JAMMU, Jan 14: Continuing its efforts to contain the menace of drug abuse, Bakshi Nagar police today claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered around 550 grams charas from their possession.
Police spokesman said that today during surprised naka checking, a team led by Inspector Naresh Sharma-SHO Bakshi Nagar and SI Thakur Dutt-Incharge police post GMC Jammu, two youths coming from Shopping Centre Bakshi Nagar, when they saw the police party and attempted to flee from the spot, but was caught.
"During the search, 15 Challian of Cannabis (Charas) weight approximately 550 gram were recovered from their possession", said spokesman adding that on enquiry, they disclosed their identities as Aijaz Ahmed of Bander Pura Kanial Bijbhehra Anantnag and Riyaz Ahmed of Pazal Pura Bijbhehra Anantnag.
In this connection a case under FIR No. 07/2019 under section 80/20 NDPS Act has been registered in Bakshi Nagar police station and investigation has been initiated. Further investigation is going on to uncover the others involved which may lead to more arrests.
The entire exercise was closely monitored by Sheema Nabi Qasba-SDPO West and Amrit Pal Singh- SP City North Jammu.
