DB directs JMC to raise boundary wall | Land for Cattle Pound at Nagrota | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1: A Division Bench of the State High Court (Jammu Wing) comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan has directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to take steps for construction of Boundary Wall of adequate height with proper reinforcements on the top to ensure that there is no encroachment of the land measuring 97 kanals 11 marlas comprised in Khasra No. 35 in village Seri Khurd, Tehsil Nagrota earmarked for construction of the cattle pound. Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Gita Mittal further directed that a status report regarding the construction of the boundary wall supported by photographs shall be placed before the Division Bench. \These Directions were passed by the Division Bench in the much publicised PIL filed by SAVE (Save Animals Value Environment), an NGO working for the welfare of the Animals through its Chairperson, Devinder Kour Madaan alias Rumpy Madaan seeking directions for construction of a modern Cattle Pound for rehabilitation of the Stray Cattles. Division Bench also directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to place before the Court, the timeline of the steps to be taken regarding the development of the cattle pound and the dates on which they would be completed. Division Bench while insisting on the boundary wall for the cattle pound observed, "It cannot be lost sight that the open land, especially of the size of over 97 kanals, is difficult to protect and would be vulnerable to encroachment by unscrupulous persons. It is imperative to direct protection of this land from unscrupulous persons. Fencing would provide little discouragement to prospective encroachers." |
