| Youth shuns militancy, returns to family | | |

Pulwama, May 1: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday said that another youth has surrendered with the help of family and community members. Police disclosed this on their official Twitter handle.
"One more youth from Pulwama with the efforts of community members & police has shunned the path of violence & returned to the mainstream. Identity stands protected."
Recently, addressing a joint press conference in Srinagar, GoC KJS Dhillon and DGP Dilbagh Singh said that many youths returned to the mainstream and their identity stands protected.
More than 40 CRPF jawans were killed in the Pulwama attack, one of the deadliest attacks on Indian soil. The jawans had been killed in an IED blast. Pakistan militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack.
The recent crackdown on terror outfits by the Indian Army has led to considerable decline in the number of youth being recruited by militant groups in Kashmir.
According to reports, in the last three months of 2019, 4 youth have been recruited to terror groups as opposed to 135 in 2018 for the same period. |
