Early Times Report Srinagar, July 3 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) chief Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday congratulated Rahul Gandhi for standing firm on his ground to leave the Congress party's president post, and said the Gandhi scion will work towards rebuilding the party and could become Congress chief in future. "Congratulations to him that he stood by his decision. He is young; he can become president again in future. He had always wanted someone else in that position, I can't say that defeat did this. I think he'll now work towards building the party," the Kashmiri leader said. Gandhi today in a statement announced that he is no longer the president of Congress, and urged the Congress Working Committee to convene a meeting at the earliest to decide on the next party chief. Gandhi also removed 'Congress President' from his Twitter bio, and also took responsibility for party's dismal performance in the Lok Sabha elections. |
