Early Times Report
doda, Aug 1: An officer posted as Block Developmental Officer (BDO) Marmat for the past five years has been given additional charge of three blocks despite being involved in corruption.
As per details available with Early Times, Block Developmental Officer Marmat issued an order vide No. BDOM/2019-20/2016 dated 2-07-2019 regarding distance from food store village Bhadgran to Behota-A is 19 kilometers, Bhadgran to Behota-B 20 kilometers and Bhadgran to Behota-C is 19 kilometers. But the actual distance of the said road is Goha-Dranga to Behota-A is only 3 kilometers, Goha-Dranga to Behota-B is 3 kilometers and Goha-Dranga to Behota-C is 3 kilometers, The other feeding store distance were also negligible because of PMGSY roads already completed at particular feeding store.
The BDO has been accused of taking a bribe of Rs 20000 from every dealer for recording extra distance in the aforesaid mentioned order.
The order has been issued to Assistant Director CAPD Doda for disbursement of funds according to distance but the distance which is mentioned in the order is fake, baseless and if payment is made on the basis of this order, it will burden the state exchequer.
Sepaking to Early Times, Fiaz Wani a resident of Marmat said that, Yasir Wani who was appointed as BDO without any KAS or any equivalent qualification for the said post is basically an Agriculture Extension Officer but due to influence in the political circles and in the administration he got the posted of as Block Level Officer and also gets three additional charges of blocks. Despite poor performance and involvement in corrupt practices in RDD, he was not posted outside the department. Recently the state government retrained him in the parent department, but he managed a court stay and continues to hold charge of three blocks. In each block he has fixed the money percentage and has illegally withdrawn huge amount of money by the department against 14 FC, MNREGA and other central sponsored schemes. Villagers expressed shock over the irregularities and sought intervention of concerned authorities and setup of a high level committee into the issue.
Civil Society Marmat has shown concern on the issue and alleged that payments have been withdrawn for works which were never executed.
Residents of these blocks appealed Advisor to Governor Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj to personally intervene into the issue and constitute a high level committee to probe the matter and immediately remove the officer from RDD department and send him to parent department with immediate effect .
