Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 1: The presence of an ex-councillor in the meeting of Councillors called by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, has raised eyebrows as it appeared to be violation of rules by the member.
According to reports the Deputy Commissioner Kathua on Wednesday called meeting of the Councillors of Kathua Muncipal Committee. Apart from other councillors of the Municipal Council Kathua, the meeting also witnessed the presence of former Councillor of Ward number 2.
Sources said that Singh had resigned from the post of Councillor of Ward Number 2, few months' back, as he was also holding the post of Chairman Cooperative Marketing Society. "In what capacity he has attended the meeting, when he was no more a councillor and put forth his opinion during the meeting called by Deputy Commissioner", a local said, adding that though the wife of former Councillor was also a Councillor but it was still doubtful as whether he had attended the meeting on behalf of his wife or due to some other reasons.
The officials at DC Office Kathua, when contacted informed that they called communicated to the acting vice-chairman of the Municipal Council Kathua and it was her duty to bring the Councillors and she could best explain on what capacity the former Councillor was called for the meeting.
"The Vice chairman must explain the reasons of bringing a former Councillor to the meeting of Councillors called by Deputy Commissioner and if there was no genuine reasons, then it appears to be hoodwinking the DC", a politician said, adding that Deputy Commissioner must initiate an enquiry about the issue to know about the veracity of facts.
