Jammu, Aug 28: A checking squad of State Pollution Control Board, Jammu conducted an extensive drive in Moti Bazar, Ware House, Bikram Chowk and Sabzi Mandi's of Mahesh Pura Chowk, K.C Morh and Parade Area against illegal stocking and sale of disposable plates, cups, bowls, tumblers, spoons, forks and knives made of non-biodegradable material banned vide SRO 231 dated.26.03.2019 in the state and seized 50 kg of such material. The drive was conducted under the supervision of Member Secretary SPCB, B.M Sharma and Regional Director Jammu, Dr Syed Nadeem Hussain, on the directions of Chairman SPCB, Suresh Chugh. The team was comprised of Arshad Nazir Malik, Divisional Officer, Jammu-North, Dimple Sharma, Field Inspector, Jammu-North and Naveed Chowdhary, Field Inspector, Samba-North and assisted by Sanitary Inspectors of JMC-Jammu, deputed with the SPCB Joint Squad. Regional Director advised the traders, shopkeepers, hawkers, Banquet Halls, Hotels, Restaurants, food stalls and the general public to avoid storage, sale and use of banned disposable plates, cups, bowls, tumblers, spoons, forks and knives made of non-biodegradable material and desist from sale and use of banned polythene carry bags (Below 50 microns) in day to day life. |
