9/19/2019 9:21:29 PM

Agencies
New Delhi, Sept 19: Following the abrogation of Article 370 and reorganisation of the state into Union territories, the retirement fund body the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has invited applications by September 27 for posting its employees in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as it gears to set up new regional offices.
"To facilitate the transition, it is proposed to post one RPFC each in the regional office Kashmir and one RPFC in Ladakh regional office," it said in a notification. The notification further added that each of the offices will also have additional post of APFC, EO/AO and one technical staff respectively.
A decision to start operations in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh was taken at the 225th meeting of the Central Board of Trustees of EPFO.
According to the notification, the postings will be for one year only after which such officers will be given a choice for posting subject to availability of vacancy. "Moreover, such officers will be entitled for tough location allowance/special duty allowance," it added.
The union territories will come into existence on October 31, 2019 and will no longer enjoy the special J&K Employees' Provident Fund Act, 1961 which will be repealed following the abrogation of the state. Instead, the EPF & MP Act, 1952 will now be applicable to the UTs and hence the setting up of new regional offices.
