Govt contemplates to start Super Speciality courses in Nursing at GMCs of Jammu, Srinagar by 2020

JAMMU, Dec 10: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today directed the officers to gear-up efforts to make all the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) schools operational by September 2020.
FC issued these directions while chairing a meeting held here today to review the status of work on Nursing Colleges, ANM and GNM schools besides B.Sc Para-Medical courses.
He directed the officials to ensure that all the facilities with regard to laboratory, equipment, furniture and other utilities shall be put in place for proper functioning of these schools.
The FC was informed that two GNM schools in Udhampur and Akhnoor besides three ANM schools in Kishtwar, Reasi and Ramban have been made operational in Jammu division in the first phase. In the second phase, seven ANM and GNM schools which are at various stages of completion will be made functional within the committed deadline.
Regarding progress on ANM schools in Kashmir, it was informed that ANM schools have been made functional in Shopian and Bandipora while GNM schools in Pulwama and Kulgam have also been operationalised.
The FC directed the concerned officers to ensure completion of all pending works of ANM and GNM schools within the deadline.
He said that the government is planning to start Super Speciality courses in Nursing at the Government Medical Colleges (GMC), Jammu and Srinagar by 2020. In this regard, he directed the officers to seek approval from University of Kashmir and Indian Nursing Council.
He also directed the concerned officials to make operational the BSc Nursing School in Jammu within a month's time besides ensuring functioning of nursing schools in Anantnag and Baramulla from April 2020 in makeshift arrangements till the works on the main buildings are complete.
During the meeting, the FC directed STOs to ensure that door to door campaigning is conducted to detect any active cases of TB so that necessary measures are taken up.
He said that TB notification rate needs to be improved and all the notified patients are tested for Universal Drug Sensitivity Testing (UDST). He added that under Nikshay Poshan Yojana, all the eligible beneficiaries should be given the financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer only.
