5/21/2020 9:27:31 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 21: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a meeting held telephonically with all the tehsil and district heads, expressed their heartiest gratitude to the government for declaring DPs of 1947 from PoK settled outside eligible for issuance of Domicile certificate by making a quick amendment in earlier notification issued on 31st March 2020.
As per the new notification issued on 18th May 2020, all the hereditary residents of J&K UT including DPs of PoK have been exempted from 15 years stay conditions to obtain the Domicile certificate.
Gurdev Singh, President JKSAC along with Netar Parkash Gen. Secy. deeply appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and other associated with the process for taking this historical decision for making the amendment in the said notification which has brought immense satisfaction among the entire DPs community, particularly 5300 DPs families along with others settled outside J&K UT for the last more than 7 decades. He said that it is pertinent to mention that these DPs families after 1947 turmoil left for different parts of country in search of food and shelter and later on settled there after having assured livelihood. He demanded that since these 5300 DPs families have been allowed to join their mainstream of DPs in J&K as per the amended notification, should also be paid Rs 5.5 lakhs as relief package through the office of PRO Jammu, having in possession all the required mandatory records pertaining to them. He reiterated that order no. 07-(DMRRR) of 2019 dated 11-12-19 maybe reviewed in their favour wherein they have been asked to approach their respective state govts. to submit the proposals to Ministry of Home Affairs to seek the relief package provided to other categories of DPs.
He made a humble appeal and urged upon PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and issue an advisory to UT administration to review the said order in favour of DPs settled outside so that they could also be provided relief through PRO Jammu to save them from further sufferings and harassment.
