MJR-47 alleges ambiguity in domicile rights for DPs settled outside J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 23: Alleging that the order for grant of domicile rights to DPs of 1947 from PoJK settled outside J&K are not clear and are ambiguous in interpretation, the Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 (MJR-47) said that the guidelines should have been clearly defined. Convener, MJR-47, JS Sudan while chairing an online meeting of the executive members of the Organization here today said that the order is vague as far as concerning to inclusion of DPs of 1947, both registered as well as unregistered, settled outside the state. He said the notification giving rules for grant of Domicile certificates to residents of UT of J&K vide Govt order number SO 166, dated 18th May 2020 has failed to clearly menetion the inclusion of those DPs of 1947 who had settled outside J&K. Though it has been claimed by the govt through press that these rules include the 5300 DP families and other left out DPs of 1947 from PoJK settled outside J&K also. It was observed in the meeting that these rules for grant of domicile certificate are not clear and are ambiguous in interpretation and do not clearly define inclusion of DPs of 1947 settled outside the J&K, both registered as well as unregistered. MJR-47 appealed to the Lt Governor of UT J&K and its administration to issue necessary corrections and amendments to the above mentioned govt order and notifications for rules for clarity in the implementation of the grant of domicile certificate to include the DPs of 1947 registered as well as unregistered and their descendants who were erstwhile permanent residents of the then J&K state. |
