Faculty Development Programme begins at GCW Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Sept 28: A ten-day long Faculty Development Programme on theme - “ICT tools for Reaching and Teaching Remote Learners in Higher Education” organized by Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu began today.
The programme has been organized under the patronage of Commissioner Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Talat Parvez Rohella and guidance of Principal, Govt PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Prof. (Dr.) Sangita Nagari.
The programme was planned with motive to polish the teaching skills amongst faculty and to make aware about the latest ICT tools for interactive teaching and blended learning which will also help in developing better equipped and knowledgeable faculty who will hopefully become more effective role models for the today’s smart students. More than 100 participants from various Schools, Colleges and Universities of UT of Jammu and Kashmir and other States have registered themselves.
The programme was inaugurated by the Patron and Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Sangita Nagari. In her inaugural address, she expressed that teaching profession is the most satisfied one and it provides ample opportunities to give back to the society.
Prof Mala Bhasin, Convener, FDP welcomed the eminent speakers and participants. She said that the present situation demands high quality teaching and learning from teachers.
The inaugural session started with the presentation of Prof Samuel Johnson, of VITAP School of Business, on learning basics of video conference tool who spoke on how to use these tools for interactive teaching and blended learning. The resource persons for the programme are Dereck Seshire of UK, Dr S Rukomia Kangaru of Kenya, Dr Salini Rosaline and GVS Santosh both from India.
