Congress seeks extension of online registration for army recruitment rally
9/29/2020 10:10:03 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 29: Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Ravinder Sharma has urged the army authorities to extend the date for online registration for the recruitment rally at Rajouri scheduled from 11th to 22nd December.
Sharma said that as the online registration was done during lockdown in April which is a joke with the eligible unemployed youth and has deprived most of them from applying in view of 2G services and complete lockdown.
He was reacting to the representation of a number unemployed youth and their parents, from far flung districts, who alleged that the army authorities sought online registration during the period of lockdown as last date was fixed April 21, for recruitment from various districts in rally, for which the venue is fixed at ALG in Rajouri.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson questioned that how could the unemployed youth have applied during complete lockdown, especially due to 2G services, as a result, it deprived most of the eligible youth from registering themselves, besides sending wrong message that it is a joke with youth of Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban and Samba, who have been directed to report at Rajouri on December 11th to 22nd.
Sharma said that only those registered through online would be entertained, knowing that this was not possible during lockdown. Moreover assembling the youth of over six districts, during the ongoing covid and the extreme winter in a far flung area without any arrangement for their food and shelter would be great injustice with the poor youth seeking jobs in army rally. He sought extension of date for registration besides holding of rally district wise with minimum harassment to the job seekers, who are mostly from very poor families.
JKPCC media chief hoped that the army higher ups would take cognizance of the serious issue and take appropriate decisions in the interest of the eligible youth and to improve the system of the army to be youth friendly. He said the matter shall be taken up with the higher army authorities including the Defence Minister for ensuring justice to the deprived youth who wait for long time to avail the opportunity for joining the prestigious army job to serve their motherland but such an approach deprives and denies them the chance and causes resentment against the system.
