Police nakas will be strengthened, says SSP Jammu | Spurt in bovine smuggling cases hurts religious sentiments | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 25: Increasing cases of bovine smuggling in the Jammu region has once again become a serious issue, which has been hurting religious sentiments of the people. Today in an incident of bovine smuggling at Chowki Choura Rahsiod, a huge protest demonstration was held by the locals. They alleged that a proper verification should be done of such vehicles and the people associated in this matter, adding that strict vigil should be maintained on those who transport bovine from one district to other so that illegal activity in garb of transportation might be stopped. “A team should be set up, which ensures the safe transportation of bovine from one point to another and then again the counting of bovine should be carried out but it has been seen that due to lack of strictness on the part of police, illegal transportation is done,” the local residents alleged. When contacted the SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli, said that he had just joined here but he ensured that no such illegal activity would be allowed to happen. He further said that all police stations and chowkis will be directed to remain vigil and maintain strict nakas to stop bovine smuggling. |
