| Sikh organizations hold meeting, discusses issues confronting community | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 25: A meeting of various Sikh organizations of Jammu Kashmir held under the chairmanship of Sudarshan Singh Wazir, Chairman Jammu Kashmir Sikh United front to discuss the various issues confronting the Sikh community. Speaking on the occasion, Sudarshan Singh Wazir expressed anguish over the process of preparing voters lists for election of Gurdwara Parbandak committees in Jammu Kashmir UT
The department of Election Commission in JK UT has prepared electoral roll for Sikh Gurdwara Prabandak Committee J&K UT without photos of voters as the voters lists for assembly elections and Lok Sabha election are with photo s of voters .
Hence the non-Sikh voters having Singh with their names are included in the voter list and it is a clear violation of Jammu Kashmir Gurdwara act.
So the Jammu Kashmir Sikh United front appealed to election commission to please make the needful omissions in the voters lists. Moreover voters lists be made with photo of voters , otherwise it will create a mess during the voting process .
It is doubtful that there may be a conspiracy to create disharmony among the Sikhs and non Sikhs during the election process.
So we again appeal to the authorities at the helm of affairs to revisit the process of preparing electoral roll for sake of fair election of Gurdwara Parbandak Committees in Jammu Kashmir UT those who participated the meeting.
The Jammu Kashmir Sikh United front appeal to LG Jammu Kashmir UT to please ask concerned Finance Commissioner Revenue, Divisional Commissioners, Dy commissioners to make the necessary omissions and additions in the voter lists as for example the approximately 900 voters are missing in the voter list of upper GoleGujral Mohalla in Tehsil Jammu and some voters of Gole Gujral are attached in the list of Marh booth which is ten kilometer far from their residence while they used to cast their vote in assembly elections at a distance of half kilometer. |
