Leopard kills 22 sheep, injured four others in Baramulla | | | Early Times Report
Baramulla, June 22: At least 22 sheep were killed and four others were injured by leopard in this north Kashmir district during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, official sources said. They said leopard from nearby forest entered a temporary shed of one Mehraj-uddin Reshi at village Rembalpora Kunzer Tangmarg in Gulmarg area in Baramulla district during the intervening night. The wild animal killed 22 sheep and injured four others before escaping back into forest. However, the incident came to light this morning when Reshi entered the shed, they said. The villagers protested and urged wildlife department to take preventive measures so that wild animals did not enter the residential area near forests. The villagers also demanded proper compensation to Reshi who has lost entire livestock in the leopard attack. |
