| CM controlled CVC can't root out corruption | | | | early times report
Jammu, Nov 10: The appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) will neither serve the intention of government in tackling corruption nor will help in moulding public perception about seriousness of the government on this account.
As per the State law CVC will not be a constitutional authority. It's a statutory body. It's not independent of the government control. As per the Act, the CVC had to report to the Chief Minister and not to the Governor and will take his approval or call to get sanction for registering and prosecuting the corrupt official.

Srinagar, Nov 10: The Practice of handing over everything from VIP movement, law and order maintenance and now distribution of LPG cylinders to police is a sad commentary on the affairs of the administration and the political establishment that has increasingly started depending for its survival on the men in Khaki.
Putting the police under tremendous pressure for jobs it is neither trained nor constitutionally permitted to handle something that needs to be checked right now or else we will have a situation where some among the men in uniform will start directing the course of events in the State.
