Faction ridden Pradesh Congress

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: Friday's assertion of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to work in cohesion if the party has to retain power in next general elections seems to be "non-applicable" in Jammu and Kashmir as the party unit here continues to remain drenched in deep-rooted factionalism.
Political observers opined that "Congress president and UPA-II chairperson Sonia Gandhi's plain speak may impress the party leadership and cadre in rest of the country but here to see the party leadership working collectively is still a distant dream as party leaders are still working vertically in two groups."
"It is an open secret that Congress party's two stalwart leaders one sitting Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad and another Pradesh Congress Committee chief Saif-ud-Din Soz have opposite approach following which their disciples too toes the line as directed by their respective mentors," pointed out political observers further adding that "the activities of Congress leadership here in the past two years are the pointers to the fact that Congress unit here in the state continues to be a divided house despite so many efforts of party high command."
Party president Sonia Gandhi will have to "compose" a new mantra specifically meant for the Congress leaders of Jammu and Kashmir state, which enjoys special status.
Worth to mention here that yesterday party high command organized an informal 'Samvad Baithak' (brainstorming session) in a town of Haryana state bordering national capital. The meeting discussed ways to create better synergy between the Congress and the United Progressive Alliance government, particularly in the months ahead of the 2014 general elections.
In her address, Congress president Sonia Gandhi reportedly made it plain and simple to leaders and ministers that they will have to work in cohesion if the party has to retain power in the next general elections scheduled in 2014.
"With 18 months left for the next general election, both the government and the party will have to work cohesively together to secure a renewed mandate," Sonia Gandhi said in her concluding remarks at the party's review-cum-strategy meeting.
"If the faction headed by PCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz organizes any function/rally, the same is boycotted by the leaders toeing the line of former chief minister and sitting Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and if the latter is here on state's visit, Soz loyalist avoid reaching venue," further shared political observers and added that "even the tire-less efforts of party's observer Mohan Prakash to unite the faction ridden unit have been proved futile so far."
"Not even a single political activity by the faction headed by Soz in Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu Province are clear indications that the said faction is least interested to carry out political activities in the said districts as there are belts dominated by the Congress leaders supporting Ghulam Nabi Azad," detailed political observers and added that "similarly, ever since his elevation to Union Cabinet, Ghulam Nabi Azad never visited and addressed party rallies in Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts as the said areas contain political domination of Soz camp leaders."
"Even the upcoming elections to four seats of MLCs, out of which two would be contested by Congress and remaining two would be contested by its ally NC, would see the heat of factionalism. Both Soz and Azad groups would leave no stone unturned to ensure the seats must not go in favour of rival camps," shared political observers.
