India has, once again, turned down China's claim over Arunachal Pradesh. Minister for External Affairs, Pranab Mukherjee, on Tuesday declared that the northeastern State of Arunachal Pradesh "is an integral part" of the Indian Union.
"The whole of Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India", Mukherjee told mediapersons after the ground-breaking ceremony of Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan, the proposed new headquarters of the External Affairs Ministry. Mukherjee was replying to a question about Chinese Ambassador Sun Yuxi's remarks in an interview to CNN-IBN claiming the whole of Arunachal Pradesh as part of Chinese territory.
The Chinese envoy had said in the interview: "In our position, the whole of the State of Arunachal Pradesh is Chinese territory. And Tawang is only one of the places in it. We are claiming all of that. That is our position". Noises over Arunachal Pradesh have become louder prior to the upcoming visit to India by China's President.

India has pressed Pakistan to rein in militants. As the peace talks resumed on Tuesday in New Delhi between India and Pakistan, terrorism became the dominant theme of discussions. The two-day meeting between Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan commenced after Pakistan Foreign Secretary, Riaz Mohamed Khan, reiterated that he was looking forward to "very constructive discussions" with his Indian counterpart.

Islamabad has just dashed off a message to Muzaffarabad, divulging the Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri's plan to hold talks later this month with the 'Kashmiri leadership' to discuss possible mechanisms for resolving the Kashmir issue with India.
Signifcantly, by the time it was officially anounced in Islamabad that a high-level meeting to be led by Kasuri will be held on November 21, the All Parties National Alliance (APNA) threatened to boycott the Kashmir conference.
