High Court lists case against Azad

Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Feb 17 Jammu and Kashmir High Court (HC) has listed a case against Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad filed by a suspended forest officer following allegation and counter allegation by petitioner's counsel and state advocate general. Hearing the case for about four-hours, the single bench of the High Court comprising Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz said the case may be listed for hearing again after two weeks. When the case came up for hearing, former G eneral Manager State Forest Corporation, Ghulam Hassan Marazi's counsel Mohammad Yousuf Bhat sought to know why the case was transferred to Justice Hakeem's court when it was first heard by a single bench comprising Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani. But when the Court informed Mr Bhat that the case was assigned to the this court on the instructions of the Chief Justice of the State, he said he has no objection and would argue the case in any Court. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 17 In the next round of cabinet meeting which is likely to be held later this month, the Financial Commissioner Agriculture Production Satinder Singh Sahni is tipped to be appointed as Financial Commissioner Home. The post of administrative secretary in the Home department has been lying vacant since October 2007 after the elevation of then incumbent BR Kundal to the post of Chief Secretary. JKP man among four people caught with heroin

Amritsar | Feb 17 Punjab Police Sunday arrested four people here, including a constable of the Jammu and Kashmir police, and recovered one kilogram of heroin from their possession. The drug haul is worth Rs.10 million in the international market, an official said. The arrested constable, identified as Sajid Mahmood, is a resident of a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The special narcotics cell of Punjab Police arrested three other smugglers along with him. A police team apprehended them while they were waiting in a car for someone to take the heroin consignment from them. They were nabbed from near the Kathunangal bus stand in rural Amritsar district. ...

Islamabad | Feb 17 Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday vowed to go ahead with Monday's key general elections, keenly watched by the world, despite a fresh wave of violence while the Opposition warned the dictator, whose fate hung in balance, of massive street protests if the vote is rigged. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 17 Listen government officials –before claiming your April salary, be sure that your electricity bills till March are clear. The Chief Engineer M&RE has urged state employees to clear their power dues by ending March 2008 in compliance to the instructions issued by government to this effect already.
