Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court Jammu wing in a significant judgment has quashed the order passed by Director General Prisons and Fire Services J&K on November 7, 2002, with the directions to reinstate the petitioner in service.
This significant judgment has been passed in a writ petition filed by Sanjeev Kumar who was discharged from the service vide DG Prisons order and challenged the same on the ground that the petitioner was appointed as Warder in the prison department on June 22, 1996. Parliament's much-discussed Kashmir report is in news, agaion. The 28 amendments made to the report by European Parliament’s Baroness Emma Nicholson have failed to meet Pakistan’s expectations, especially on the plebiscite issue.
The report is to be put to vote in May when Pakistan hopes it can generate enough support to get the desired results. Pakistan’s lobbying efforts have been coordinated with help from Kashmiri groups by its UK High Commissioner, Maleeha Lodhi.

Rahbar-e-Taleem teachers have threatened to resume their agitation in case government fails to keep its promise of fulfilling their demands including the enhancement of salaries and reduction in the qualifying service for regularization.
The Rahbar-e-Taleem Teachers forum called off their strike last month after chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad gave them assurance that their demands would be conceded.
As per a press statement issued here today, the All Jammu and Kashmir Rahbar-e-Taleem teachers/ EVs Forum at a meeting has decided to resume their strike if Government did not keep the promises it made with them last month after which they called off their strike.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad skipped the dinner organized by United Front Chairperson Sonia Gandhi reportedly in a bid to provide PDP’s patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and him an opportunity to sort out their differences over the issue of the withdrawal of troops.
Sources informed that Azad who spend his whole day in Srinagar where he inspected arrangements for Eid Milad congregation returned to Jammu late afternoon. “After he returned, he directly went to his official residence and remained there for the rest of the day” sources from CM Secretariat told News Agency of Kashmir.
