Jammu, July 30: The recent act of religious sacrilege in two separate districts of Jammu in two consecutive days where cows were found slaughtered raking up communal tensions has raised many eyebrows.
The acts are being seen as an underlining process to communalize and polarize the two divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly, to cash upon the vote banks of the regions as Assembly elections are drawing nearer.
If the speculations rife over the issue are to be believed, the people of the region in general and the entire sate in particular is of opinion that Government sitting silent over such issues is obviously a hint at the advent of an evil events casting their shadows before.
While the political parties are reluctant to admit the fact openly, y...

Jammu, July 30: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who virtually controls the defeated and "unpopular" National Conference (NC), has no impressive report card to present to the people to win them over and check the fast-growing influence of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), particularly in Kashmir that returns 46 members to the 87-member Assembly. Since his Government has utterly failed to deliver on any front and since the people have abandoned it, he is trying his level best to find some issues which could help him put up a good show in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, but with no result. In the Lok Sabha election, the NC could not lead even in 10 Assembly segments in K...

| | | | Senior leaders ignored, outsiders with doubtful credentials taking important decisions | | State unit of BJP in complete disarray as weak president failed to take control of party | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 30: State unit of BJP is gripped with unprecedented crisis because there is no taker of party in the sensitive border state of Jammu and Kashmir. After becoming Member of the Parliament (MP), the incumbent State president, Jugal Kishore Sharma has become "out of reach" because he is now a national leader.
With the absence of the "local" president, the State unit of BJP is captured by two groups which ultimately led to complete chaos and confusion in the party. On the one hand, a general secretary of the party has dominated the party while on the other some outsiders, who are running a NGO, are projecting themselves as real decision makers of the party.

| | | | Who will win Jammu? | | 2014 Assembly elections | | | Neha
JAMMU, July 30: Battle lines in Kashmir are clearly drawn. It would be the PDP vs the NC in the Valley. The Congress and a few other marginal political players are also there in the Valley, but the contest would be mainly between the PDP and the NC. And everyone knows who will win and who will lose in Kashmir.
However, it is Jammu province where the picture is not yet clear. There are several political actors who will test the political waters in the coming assembly elections. There is the upbeat BJP, which in 2008 won 11 seats, and which now asserts that it would sweep the Jammu province. Its claim is that it would win a minimum of 30 seats in Jammu province. It has declared 44+ a...
