Disrespect shown to National Anthem in front of Guv
CUK's 1st convocation to haunt varsity's VC
7/4/2018 11:56:48 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 4: As amid the much fanfare, the first convocation of the Central University of Kashmir was held on Wednesday, anti-national scenes were at large witnessed inside the SKICC wherein the event took place.
The videos of the convocation are making rounds on social media showing how the audience disrespected the national anthem when it was played out at the beginning of the function.
It has further revealed how the university has failed even to instil respect for the national anthem amongst the students. What was more ironic to witness was that not even a single organiser emphasised upon the students to stand up while the national anthem was being played out with much gusto. The videos are showing only one student among the hundreds standing up to show respect for the national anthem.
"We don't know what went wrong and were. It is still a mystery that whether such an action to show disrespect for the national anthem was a pre-planned move or it was an abrupt reaction," says one of the organisers of the function.
He revealed that a full dress rehearsal was conducted two days ahead of the actual event and that all the students were called to take part in that rehearsal. "It is questionable whether during the dress rehearsal; the national anthem was actually played out. This is indeed bizarre that such disrespect was shown for the national anthem at such an important event," says one of the invitees.
Furthermore, there hasn't been any inquiry ordered over such gross violation of rules so far and that the university authorities to have preferred to maintain the stoic silence over it.
Pertinently, Governor N.N. Vohra presided over the 1st Convocation of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK). Prof. (Dr.) K. Vijay Raghvan, Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt. of India, was the Chief Guest and Prof. Srikumar Banerjee, former Chairman Atomic Energy Commission of India and founder Chancellor of the CUK was the Guest of Honour.
Governor, in his Presidential Address, wished a very bright future to all alumni who received degrees, medals and awards at today's Convocation. He observed that the passing out students now have the responsibility to work for the growth and development of the society and they should discharge this obligation by setting examples in their professional work and personal lives.
As per the university handout, Governor complimented the Vice Chancellor and all his colleagues, staff and the students for the good work which is being done in the Campus and recalled that the University since its establishment in 2010, had faced varied challenges, both logistical and human resource related. Governor recalled that, in the earlier year, similar difficulties were faced by the three non-State universities and some of the common problems were tackled by all the VCs getting together, under the Vice-Chancellor's Forum which he had helped to get established. He expressed satisfaction that the VC's Forum has sure emerged as an important consultative mechanism for examining complex academic issues.
