ABVP, SRS demand shifting of IMFA to JU campus | Students’ protest enters 6th day | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 15: Protesting against the Jammu University (JU) administration for not conceding to the demand of shifting the building of Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) to Varsity campus, its students under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad(ABVP) on the 6th day of the ongoing agitation today held a strong protest demonstration in the premises of the Institute. Students’ under the leadership of Mohit Sharma and Vaneeka Gupta, President and Secretary, ABVP unit, IMFA gathered at main gate and staged a strong protest demonstration against the college and university administrations. The protesting students lit the candles to enlighten the vision of Vice Chancellor, JU and university authorities in the light of day as they alleged that administration has become blind to see the worst condition of IMFA building. Holding candles in hands and wearing black ribbons on forehead, students raised slogans against JU administration and went in shape of a procession towards main road outside IMFA and blocked the road for half an hour. Addressing the gathering, Raghav Sharma, State Secretary, ABVP stated that students are fighting from last 6 days for their right to study in safe and secure place but still Vice Chancellor don’t show any concern regarding the sufferings of the students of only Music and Fine Arts Institute of Jammu province. This institute is always neglected in terms of facilities and development, he added. Meanwhile, Shri Ram Sena (SRS) Jammu and Kashmir has come out in support of IMFA students Addressing a press conference here today, State President SRS Rajiv Mahajan expressed anguish against the administration of Jammu University for not providing accommodation to the students and staff of IMFA in University Campus, Jammu and threatened to launch agitation if the institute is not shifted immediately. Mahajan, said that the building of IMFA at Poonch House Talab Tillo is in dilapidated condition and could collapse any time. This has put at risk the safety of the students and staff of the institution. He again appeals the authorities to shift IMFA from Poonch House to University Campus of Jammu University at the earliest in view of the safety of the students and the staff.
