Srinagar, Sept 17 (KNS): Raising doubts on the seriousness and intentions of the state government on rehabilitation of militants returning from the other side of the control line. The youth who have come back recently complained that their life has become miserable after their return. Aijaj Ahmad hailing from Srinagar told KNS that after his return from Muzaferabad, after almost 22 years, it was one of the biggest mistakes he had ever committed in his life. "I had gone to Muzaferabad in 1990 and then settled there after getting married. Now I have 5 children including 3 girls who have come along with me. Since my return to home land, I have been living in great trouble in absence of any help from the government. My children cannot be enrolled in schools, even they don't give them the citizenship, nor do we get any kind of monetary benefits", Aijaz said adding that he was living a life of a refugee in his own state.
Aijaz revealed that there were so many youths wishing to return to their homes. "But now, given the conditions we are living in here, they are holding their feet back", he said. Mohammad Yousf has a similar story to tell. "I had come with a great hope but was disappointed with the treatment we are getting from the local government". He however suggested that Govt. should open Uri, Teetwal and Poonch routs for the youth who want to return home. Relatives of these youth revealed that these youth and their families are now planning to move back.
Pertinently government had announced a comprehensive rehabilitation policy for the youth who want to return from the other side of the control line and had vowed to rehabilitate them and their families. Though the government has never revealed the actual number of families that actually returned but sources in the govt. revealed that dozens of families have already reached their homes.
