| LPG consumers in tizzy over fresh verification of records | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 21: The announcement that LPG dealers would be conducting fresh verification of documents of a valid gas connection has sent consumers in to tizzy as majority of them face see through this that they are not getting the fresh supply till the exercise is completed.
Since morning a large number of consumers were seen making a beeline outside the counters of the gas supply dealers across Jammu. The individuals from all age groups were seen waiting for their turn to produce their documents before extracting an assurance that they would soon be receiving the regular gas supply after the proper verification exercise.
Though the majority of people are unhappy with the decision of the Union govt regarding the capping of the maximum number of subsidized cylinders to six (6) only but they are happy over the fact that the fresh verification exercise would help prevent black marketing of gas cylinders. They hoped that after verification they (consumers) would not face any problem on account of delay caused in supplying the cylinders.
While waiting in the queue in Bahu Plaza shopping complex Tarun Gupta hoped that as already announced that in Congress ruled states the people will get 9-10 subsidized cylinders, the state govt (with an alliance with Congress) too should also make a public announcement in this regard of issuing at least 9-10 cylinders under subsidized category". Gupta said the dealers should work out an arrangement to check documents of limited number of consumers. “The large rush of consumers is further delaying the exercise, he added. Similar opinion was observed by many consumers standing outside the office of LPG dealer in Gandhi Nagar locality. According to the official sources the consumers are advised to produce their original records along with a copy of PAN card, Electricity bill and Ration card with two pictures for verification process. |
