Shiite Kashmiri leader snubs Hurriyat leaders, militants | Pakistani Gun | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 21: Prominent leader of Shiite community in Kashmir Aga Abdul Hussain Kashmiri has done it and done it boldly and fearlessly. He dismissed the Hurriyat leaders as irrelevant and militants as Pakistani agents carrying in their hands Pakistani guns. He did plain-speaking yesterday during press conference, held at Srinagar by Jammu and Kashmir Human Welfare Association (JKHWA). The JKHWA has been founded by surrendered militants. Aga Kashmiri took on Hurriyat leaders and gun-totting militants in the presence of Mohammad Farooq Khan and votary of talks between the Government and surrendered militants, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Sanjay Saraf, obviously much to their chagrin. Aga Hussain Kashmiri said that Hurriyat leaders, surrendered militants as well as gun-totting militants have no locus standi as far as resolution of Kashmir issue is concerned. He said something no "mainstream" Kashmiri ever dared to say. Agriculture Minister and Democratic Party (Nationalist) president Ghulam Hassan Mir did take on a few days ago those demanding autonomy and self-rule and said the people of Kashmir had nothing to day with the bilateral issues between India and Pakistan, but he did not say what Aga Kashmiri said in so many words. It is also true that Mir used very strong language against Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and held him responsible for the messy situation in Kashmir, but he never opposed the demand seeking negotiations between the Government and Hurriyat leaders. Aga Kashmiri perhaps is one Kashmiri leader who have dismissed Hurriyat leaders, surrendered militants and gun-totting militants as no factor as far as resolution of the "Kashmir issue" is concerned. Most of the leaders of the Shiite community believe in what Aga Hussain Kashmiri said, but they never came out so openly. "I am for the rehabilitation of surrendered militants; I am for their honourable rehabilitation; I want the Government of India to take care of them; I want all the Kashmiri prisoners in jails outside Kashmir to be put in Kashmir jails. But as for the demand that there should be negotiations between the Government of India and Hurriyat leaders, surrendered militants and active militants on Kashmir issue, I do not support the demand at all. They have no role to play. The militants in Kashmir are carrying Pakistani guns -- Atankiyon Ne Jo Banduk Uthai Hai, Wo Pakistan Ki Hai --," he said. What Aga Hussain Kashmiri said indicates that things in Kashmir are changing. It also indicated that those who are fed up with what has been happening in Kashmir have started mustering courage to take on Hurriyat leaders and other extremists. |
