| Hakim Yasin, Tarigami address common rally……..! | | First step towards formation of Third Front…..? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 30: In what can be seen as the first practical step towards formation of the Third Front in present political arena of state, PDF chairman Hakim Mohammad Yasin and CPM legislator MY Tarigami shared the same political platform on Saturday to address the masses of one particular area in district Budgam. It was for the first the two Kashmir based leaders, no matter from the two contrasting ideologies addressed from a same rally. The rally cum one day convention was basically organized by the president of PDF, Hakim Mohammad Yasin . The talk about formation of Third Front in the political spectrum of J&K in the present coalition regime has been gaining momentum for some time with its leaders trying to find a ‘common ground’ on which they can forge close knit political ties to help the group emerge as strong force ahead of 2014 Assembly polls. However lately, at least the three key players of the Front who are considered to be stalwarts in terms of their political acumen and experience in the field have been seen hobnobbing with each other and even holding informal, close door meetings. Though one of the leaders whose name has been associated with the Front ever since Third Front nomenclature came into existence during previous coalition regime led by PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed , Ghulam Hassan Mir is minister in the present NC led coalition at present as one of the independent ally extending support to Congress, he has as yet not dissociated himself from the tag, nor is getting too close or open in terms of public appearance as the two leaders Yasin and Tarigami have been doing so, Saturday’s rally being the fresh development that can be seen as beginning of forging closer ties. Even though all the three leaders have their own political parties but the only thing that binds them together and on the basis of which they are trying to find a common cause to form a strong and viable political force is the Kashmir constituency and the common political issues they can raise in one voice. There has been talk of bringing into the fold of Third Front other ‘like minded’ leaders but that too has not gained any ground as yet, only except the speculation of independent legislator Engineer Abdul Rashid also becoming a part of this Front . But that does not seem to be a possibility as the three leaders who are originally seen as part of the Front share some commonalities and perception on vital issues which matter in Kashmir polity. How far the step of sharing the political functions henceforth will be sustained by the key players of Third Front, however remains to be seen and will be unfolded in time to come. But in the present political situation of mainstream politics, when the two ruling allies also seem to stretching apart on a host of issues, coming together in public functions by Yasin and Tarigami certainly assumes some significance. |
