Jammu, Oct 18: The annual review for 3rd quarter was held under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dilbag Singh (IPS) at Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Zone ,Jammu today in which Range DIsGs and District SSsP of Jammu Zone apprised him about the over-all view of the crime, security, law and order situation their areas. IGP Jammu , Dilbag Singh, while briefing the Officers emphasized the need for people-friendly approach and behaviour of the Police force at the cutting edge level and stressed that the Police should not only be fair in their actions but also should look like being fair to everyone. While elaborating, IGP mentioned that maintenance of law & order, speedy investigation and disposal of cases, adequate attention to public grievances on day-to-day basis, special attention to public importance cases, and above all strengthening Police-Public rapport are of utmost importance. IGP Jammu, also stressed that touring by Police Officers in their respective areas, meeting people and interacting with them on social and professional matters is of significance and thus Civil Society Committee and Friends of Civil Society meets have to be regular and target oriented. During the meeting the steps taken on counter insurgency front for a better security and law and order scenario were also discussed. It was heartening to see that the achievements of the targets set for the 2nd quarter and 3rd quarter of 2012 on most of the fronts were found highly satisfactory. Some areas where focused attention of the District SSsP and Range DIsG would be required, have been identified and discussed. The Officers were comp-limented for excellent maintenance of law and order and successful investigation of some of the very importance cases especially murder cases. IGP Jammu Zone, however, expressed his concern over the cases of vehicle thefts and other thefts/burglary cases/drive against drug peddlers where further efforts were required to be made to check these kinds of crime. Suicide cases and road accidents leading to death on roads and injuries to many people were areas of special concern where all concerned need to play their roll to check loss of human life.
