Vijaypur, Nov 1: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today hailed the central government for their keen interest for the one time settlement of the refugees belonging to different categories. "The central government has shown its interest for the one time settlement of the refugees and appealed the Jammu Kashmir Government especially Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla to give the required information or possible help to the Union Government on the rehabilitation of the refugees so that the long pending demands could be solved," Manjit Singh said here during a Congress worker's routine meeting at Vijaypur in Samba. "The State Government has been asked to furnish the required information to the Ministry as early as possible. The Ministry has also sought proposals from the State Government for additional assistance required for rehabilitation of Displaced Persons of 1971 and 1965," Manjit Singh informed the party workers and refugees. He, while expressing concern, said people living along or near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir are given reservation and relie accordingly but the people living near the International Border are discriminated. The farmers living near the IB has no reservation in jobs or educational institutions for which the government should think and accordingly, provided needed reservation or relief to the people. He said that the cultivation able land coming under the ditch area on International Border have not been rent by the concerned authorities. "The farmers should be given rent of their respective land," he said. Block Congress President Capt. Amarnath Bhatti, Distt. Vice President Babbal Gupta, Senior leader Tiraht Bhagat, Vijay Choudhary, Capt. Mohan lal, Updesh Kumar, Wazir Singh jangi, Sujan Singh, Sajjan Singh, Suraj Singh, Noor Hussain, Sham Lal, Ex. Corp. Ghar singh, Youth congress leader Rinka Choudhary, Ashok Kumar, Maggar Ram, Satpal were the prominent among the party leaders and workers who were present in the meeting. |
