| Govt decision to conduct aerial survey of Baltal track draws flak | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 1: The aerial survey of holy Amarnath track by Government yesterday has drawn a flak with nationalist organisations and Hindu bodies accusing the coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah of succumbing to the pressure of separatists. Voicing their concern over the conduct of the aerial survey of the track through mediamen yesterday, the Hindu bodies said this shows that the separatists still runs large in the Valley and they are dictating the terms to Government. While reacting to the Government's decision to get the track surveyed through mediamen to ascertain the facts about the construction of road to holy shrine of Amarnath and provide facilitating hassle free yatra to pilgrims visiting the cave shrine every year a spokesman of the VHP told this reporter that this way the Government has given legitimacy the Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani and other separatists opposing the construction of road. He said what authenticity they have to oppose the construction of road and interfere in the religious affairs of Hindus. The Government should have not attached any importance to the Hurriyat leaders as this way the Government is trying to give credence to separatists and which can't be tolerated any long. The VHP spokesman said that his organisation will not allow any interference in the religious affairs of Hindus and demanded that the construction work on the road should be started as early as possible. The Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray and other Hindu bodies have also ridiculed the Government decision saying does this mean that for every development activity the Government has to seek permission from separatists or their mentors across the border. ``If Omar Abdullah Government is not in a position to deal with separatists especially the hardliner Geelani he should quit and the new Government can deal with him effectively'', said a spokesman of Shiv Sena. He said by succumbing to pressure of separatists the Government has played with the sentiments of millions of Hindus all over the country and they will not tolerate it any way. It is not known whether separatists rule the State or the NC-Congress coalition. He said by conducting the aerial survey of the road through mediamen the Government shows that the State Government is not itself interested in construction of the road to holy cave and it wants to give feeling that the people in Valley especially the majority community are opposing the same while the facts are totally otherwise. |
