Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 2: Jharkhand today restricted Jammu and Kashmir to a small total after bowing out the hosts for 195 in 56.5 overs in the post-lunch session. In reply, visitors were comfortably placed at 81 for one in 29 overs on the day-one of the Ranji Trophy Group-C tie at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
Losing their first wicket in the shape of opener, M S Vardhan, Jharkhand played cautiously afterwards and steadily built up their total. Vardhan was caught by Bandeep Singh off Parvez Rasool at 31.
When the stumps were drawn, R K Nemat was batting at 42 while R Shukla had yet to open his account. Now, Jharkhand need 114 runs more runs to match J&K's first innings total with nine wickets in hand.
Earlier, J&K could not give a good start to their innings after winning the toss and decided to bat first. Soon after the dismissal of Ian Dev Singh (14), J&K lost wickets on regular intervals. However, Adil Rishi kept the other end intact providing little room to the opponent bowlers to beat him. Adil made 41 runs off 76 deliveries hitting four boundaries.
After Adil, it was only Hardeep Singh, who could face the Jharkhand bowlers boldly thereby helped the side reach a respectable total. Hardeep played unbeaten innings of 49 runs facing 89 balls including six hits to the fence.
From Jharkhand, SS Rao and S Nadeem were most successful bowlers with three wickets each while Sunny Gupta and R Shukla took two and one respectively.
Meanwhile, two young cricketers from J&M made debut in the first-class cricketer. They are Aamir Aziz and Bandeep Singh.
